Litecoin: First Crypto Sponsor of UFC

Cryptocurrency and sports have crossed paths once again as the Litecoin Foundation partners up with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a leading mixed martial arts organization, to promote Litecoin (LTC). According to the foundation’s blog post, LTC will be the “Official Cryptocurrency Partner of UFC 232.″

Creator of LTC Charlie Lee announced last December 27 via Twitter that the LTC logo will be making an appearance in the Octagon during UFC 232: Jones vs. Gustafsson 2. The tweet read:

“Excited to announce that the Litecoin logo will be on the canvas as the Official Cryptocurrency Partner of @UFC 232 on 12/29 in Inglewood CA!”

With the digital asset’s logo visible on the octagonal mat, LTC will have its brand exposed to “millions of viewers” around the world.  This will help raise global awareness of LTC and hopefully get people to invest in the crypto.

Throughout the year LTC and the Litecoin Foundation have been partnering with different brands and companies. According to the blog post, there are several reasons the digital asset has chosen to be a sponsor of UFC.

One is that both companies are community driven. The UFC has cultivated an “extremely passionate community” over the last 25 years, and LTC wants to do the same.

“We see many parallels to Litecoin in this way as our amazing community has been instrumental in our growth and providing unwavering passion and enthusiasm that continues to propel us forward.”

Another reason is that this partnership will be a milestone for all cryptocurrencies “as no other coin has sponsored a UFC event to date.”

“With brands and institutions continuing to push into cryptocurrency and blockchain, this is yet another signal of this technology moving closer towards the mainstream.”

UFC 232 will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on December 29, Saturday. The main event will feature a match between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson for the Light Heavyweight championship.
